It seems plans for a new GP surgery on Church Fields site in Weddington have secretly been suspended since summer 2019.
Instead the Warwickshire North CCG is planning to include a GP in the unfunded £13m sports centre on the unapproved Top Farm site next to the currently unfunded secondary school on top of the still buried cows from 2002 foot & mouth outbreak. The November 2017 outline planning application for Top Farm is still on hold as it seems unviable in current form.
History
I have been monitoring this project since the community asked planners and developers to provide a GP surgery when Hallem submitted the planning application for over 300 homes on the site near Church lane Weddington. The application was rejected by the planning committee but approved by a planning inspector after a planning inquiry at the start of 2012. The inspector agreed that the GP surgery was vital to make that development acceptable and required the developer to provide the land for free to the NHS.
The land for the GP was offered to be available when 50 of the 326 were occupied
The GP was shown on the master plans when Davidson submitted their detailed phase one planning application in 2013.
That point of 50 occupied homes has been passed around four years ago as now around 300 are occupied and the development is complete. Since 2015 myself and many others have asks first NHS Warwickshire and more recently Warwickshire North Clinical commissioning group WNCCG) for updates. By January 2019 I attended a sight visit with the CCG, NHS England, architects and Public health (part of WCC). I had a progress meeting with the CCG and public health officer. I was provided a briefing note and told there would be consultation and more details in June. The April briefing showed an requirement for new surgery at the end of 2020.
Then at the end of 2019 Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough council meetings showed that the CCG had been secretly changing plans had had stopped all work on the original site.
