Campaigning for a better Nuneaton
I hope this can become a general "green" web resource for the Nuneaton Area.
At the moment most of the site is about a fight to prevent our County Councils building a giant incinerator. It seems this battle may have been won as the incinerator plans have dropped out of site and the waste partnership chairman has been removed.
In the future I wish to add sections on local green shopping, transport and environmental groups.

This page outlines recommendations as to how some of your health services might be withdrawn in the future. In its place you will be expected to go to a new hospital that has been built at the Walsgrave site. The service at the local hospitals will be slowly cut back and become an advice centre that will tell you to go to the Walsgrave or go home. The PFI for the new Walsgrave hospital causes the NHS to pay £60 million in charges per year.

The people's protest group was formed as a result of the threat to the George Eliot Hospital services through the Acute Services Review. It is also looking at the wider problems facing the George Eliot Hospital due to the financial mess and rapid changes to our local NHS.

Warwickshire County Council had adopted a Municipal Waste strategy that is based on building a giant mass burn incinerator in Warwickshire. The strategy seems to have stalled after lots of campaigning. We still need proper waste reduction, recycing and processing.
Green Nuneaton Discussions
Waste issues - The public cannot speak at WCC or event attend the waste partnership meetings. This on-line forum allows anyone to have their say.
Local issues - doing things local is key to a green Nuneaton. You can have your say on Hospital cuts, train cuts, local shopping or cycle routes.

We provide local people with the latest information on the widest range of regional, national and worldwide environmental issues. We also exist to help local people have their say about local environmental needs, drawing upon the national resources of the organisation to provide authoritative solutions to local problems. We have close links with other Friends of the Earth groups throughout the Midlands.
